Funded by Meta and managed by the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), the $150M Community Housing Fund (CHF) was created to support housing projects that dedicate a minimum of 20% of their units for households with extremely low incomes (ELI). The CHF was launched in December 2020 alongside its first round of funded projects, which included two sites in San Jose that will accomodate at-risk or formerly homeless individuals and families, and two more sites in Alameda and Sunnyvale that will reserve 80-100% of their units for ELI households. Since its launch and as of summer 2022, the CHF has invested in a total of 13 projects across four Bay Area counties, initiatives that are expected to create more than 1500 new affordable housing units in the next few years (with nearly half of these being affordable to ELI households).
