Hummingbird Valencia is a psychiatric respite center and interim housing site located in San Francisco’s Mission District that provides adults experiencing homelessness, mental health crises and substance use disorders with meals, showers, clothing, laundry facilities, and a safe place to rest as an alternative to hospitalization.

Hummingbird Valencia, PRC’s second site of this kind, allows clients, referred by urgent care providers or street teams, to engage the help of professionals in a residential environment, and provides connections to resources including substance abuse and behavioral health treatment, employment assistance, case management, and support systems for long term health and stability.

The site, funded with $3 million by San Francisco’s Department of Public Health and Tipping Point and managed by the Salvation Army, offers 30 overnight beds and services for an additional 20 daytime guests, with most clients staying between several nights and several weeks.
