The first guaranteed income program geared specifically to immigrant families, the Mission Asset Fund’s Immigrant Families Recovery Program (IFRP) is building a better future for immigrants who were left out of federal COVID-19 support payments. The program gives $400/month for up to two years to immigrant households with young children and lost income due to the pandemic. The program’s goal of enrolling 5,000 families across the country included partnership with a coalition of San Mateo County groups to reach families in this community in particular. Families receiving assistance also have access to financial coaching, training, and education.
MAF also has a national IFRP that is serving undocumented families in Texas, New York, and beyond. As of 2024, the IFRP program had distributed more than $21.3 million in assistance, with significant impacts to their clients: IFRP participants enrolled in the program are 2X more likely to own a car, 4X more likely to own a home, and 6X more likely to have a savings account.
