The Safe Parking Pilot Program launched on March 7, 2022 to provide community members who are living in their vehicles a safe place to park through December 2025. The 52 parking spots provided for people experiencing homelessness also have basic services including food, sanitation and shower services. Wrap-around services are also provided to nearby individuals experiencing homelessness to help them transition into permanent housing. As of March 2025, the program has helped 307 residents, 31 of whom have since moved into temporary housing and 86 into permanent housing. The Safe Pilot Program is funded through the city’s General Fund, $2 million in one-time American Rescue Plan funds and $500,000 from the County for the wrap-around services.
