The Campus is a new interim housing site from Insight Housing (formerly Berkley Food & Housing Project) and the City of Berkeley. The Campus is located in the former Super 8 Motel on Berkeley’s University Avenue, and is part of the City’s plan to provide stable housing and case management services to people experiencing homelessness, particularly those who have been living in encampments.
The site offers 23 private rooms, each with a bathroom, television, microwave, and mini-fridge, and a variety of other services including security, twice weekly housekeeping, and three meals per day. To support their comfort and independence, residents are allowed to bring their pets and have the freedom to come and go without a curfew.
Residents of the campus are able to stay as long as necessary to find permanent housing, and are guided and supported by case workers with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
